Accounts Manager

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Management of a team of cashiers
  • Ensuring compliance with SAR rules
  • Daily liaison with and support to be provided to firm's equity partners in their management of the practice
  • Preparation of firm's management accounts on a monthly basis and production of year end accounts in conjunction with external accountants.
  • Adherence to firm's internal and external reporting timetables and deadlines
  • Liaison with the firm's bankers in relation to bank account maintenance and transaction processing
  • Review existing accounts department procedures and suggest and implement improvements as appropriate to ensure optimal efficiency
  • Preparing and reviewing Client to Office Transfers and daily Bank Reconciliations
  • Regular review of matter balance reports to ensure that billings are accelerated and that cash is collected as soon as possible once time has been invoiced.
  • Management of cash-flow
  • Ownership to be taken of firm's aged debt profile.
  • Posting of Client and Office Receipts
  • Processing of Client and Office Payments by Chaps or Cheque
  • Processing of Supplier Invoices
  • Ensuring information is recorded and filed correctly
  • Liaising with branch offices to answer any queries and provide support to Fee Earners
  • To maintain VAT records, prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
  • To produce such internal reports as may be required to ensure fee earners take prompt action to comply with the Firm’s policies regarding billings, debts, disbursements and WIP
  • To ensure that all records on the system are up to date and reliable, taking prompt and effective action to maintain accuracy at all ties
  • To co-operate fully with the Firm’s Practice Director to ensure effective performance of the Firm’s Accounts function
  • To undertake training of new and existing staff in Accounts procedures to ensure that they are able to fully and effectively perform their roles at all times
  • Petty cash accounting

Experienced Personal Injury Paralegal/Fee Earner (Garston Office)

Purpose of job

To provide legal and administrative assistance to the Personal Injury department at our Garston office and to the practice as required under supervision of fee-earner


  • Assist fee-earner in the running of files as required, including
    • Interviewing and updating clients
    • Drafting statements
    • Preparing instructions to experts and counsel
    • Arranging appointments
    • Drafting legal documents
    • Concluding matters at completion of legal work
    • Dealing with straightforward legal work under supervision
  • Take initial instructions from clients and advise
  • Communicate with clients, opponents, experts and counsel
  • Be fully conversant with the procedures under the MOJ Portal scheme
  • Arrange and explain conditional fee agreements and other methods of funding, payment of disbursements and cost update letters
  • Attend court hearings as required both with and without counsel
  • Undertake administrative tasks for the department as required, including
    • Message taking
    • Filing
    • Preparing briefs and trial bundles
    • Typing
  • Maintain accurate file notes and other useable records
  • Carry out all tasks accurately and efficiently within internal and external guidelines and to deadlines
  • Comply with all internal policies and procedures in accordance with the practice’s office
  • Comply with the SRA Handbook 2011
  • Fully and actively contribute to the effective operation and development of the Personal Injury department
  • Undertake any relevant training and/or professional development as recommended by Personal Injury supervisor
  • Use of Proclaim Case Management software

Any other tasks as reasonably requested by Personal Injury supervisor

Other Information

Hours : 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday

Salary – commensurate with experience
